In this narrative review, the authors discuss key issues in preventive hepatology, with a specific emphasis on the multiparametric assessment of portal hypertension in chronic liver disease. The article presents a complete overview of invasive and noninvasive diagnostic tools, with a focus on ultrasound-based approaches, elastography, and endohepatology.
