Type	Description
Open	A sulcus > 5 mm in width, whose medial end communicates freely with the transverse fissure
Closed	A sulcus > 5 mm in width, whose medial end is covered by a bridge of liver parenchyma so there is no continuity with the transverse fissure
Slit	A sulcus that measures ≤ 5 mm in width
Scar	A discernable depression is not present, but a vague linear impression marks its expected location
Absent	There is no superficial landmark discernable
