Data are presented as diagnostic accuracy measures from receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. Cut-off free triiodothyronine (pmol/L): The threshold value provides the best balance between sensitivity and specificity. Sensitivity: The percentage of patients with high-grade varices correctly identified by free triiodothyronine levels. Specificity: The percentage of patients without high-grade varices correctly excluded by free triiodothyronine levels. AUC: Area under the curve; FT3: Free triiodothyronine; PPV: Positive predictive value; NPV: Negative predictive value.
