HBV DNA was quantified in all studies by non-polymerase chain reaction assay (PCR), hybridization techniques with a limit ranging being 5-6 log₁₀ copies/mL, except for the studies by Thabut, Kamar, Gwak and Fontaine (2005) who used a PCR-based assay.
