Group HPs included the individuals with only hyperplastic polyps. If an individual had multiple polyps and if any one of the polyps exceeded 10 mm in diameter, it was regarded as ≥ 10 mm in size. SP: Single polyp; MP: Multiple polyps. Proximal tumors were defined as cecum through transverse colon; tumors in the splenic flexture, descending, and sigmoid colon were defined as distal.
