Figure 1 Schematic representation of possible role of leptin in the pathogenesis of psoriatic, rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis. Leptin levels regulate release of pro-inflammatory cytokines: IL-1, IL-6, IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-23/IL-17, very well-known pro-inflammatory mediators affecting joint cartilage, chondrocyte loss and apoptosis.
