Central venous injury was defined as dislodgement of vascular clips or accidental injury by ultrasonic scalpel. The laparoscopic group adopted the fine dissection technique with vascular clips/ultrasonic scalpel, while the open surgery group used the ligation + transection method. Fisher’s exact test was applied, and the difference in retention rate between the two groups was of highly statistical significance (P = 0.003), suggesting that the laparoscopic approach provides better vascular protection.
