The forest plot illustrates a clear dose-response relationship between total mesorectal excision (TME) quality and local recurrence risk, with incomplete TME conferring the highest risk [odds ratio (OR) = 3.16], followed by nearly complete TME (OR = 1.82) compared to complete TME (P for trend < 0.001). 95%CI: 95% confidence interval.
