For the prematched cohort, the test statistic columns represent independent t statistics for continuous variables and χ² statistics for categorical variables. For the postmatched cohort, all statistics and P values were derived using paired tests appropriate for matched samples, specifically the paired t test for continuous variables and the McNemar test for categorical variables. An absolute standardized mean difference less than 0.10 indicates negligible imbalance between groups.
