The proportion of nNOS-IR neurons was increased in the GES subgroups compared with sham GES in both diabetes mellitus (bP < 0.01) and control canines (aP < 0.05). Within sham-stimulated groups, the proportion of nNOS-IR neurons was less in the diabetes mellitus compared with the controls (bP < 0.01).
