István Rácz, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine and Head of the First Department of Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Petz Aladár County and Teaching Hospital, Győr, Hungary. Dr. Rácz finished his PhD program in 1990 at the Medical University at Pécs. He received the med. habil degree at the same university in 1999 and in 2008 he was appointed as professor of medicine at the Széchenyi István University of Győr. Dr. Rácz served on the editorial board of the journal Endoscopy (2004-2015) and several Hungarian journals. His research interests focus on gastrointestinal bleeding and colorectal cancer screening, gastrointestinal mucosal protection, H. pylori infection and capsule endoscopy. Dr. Rácz was the member of the ESGE Board during 2004-2012. He served as the Chairman of the Education Committee during 2008-2010 and he was the vice president of the ESGE between 2010-2012. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 original articles and a number of book chapters.
