Doc. MUDr. Martin Janicko PhD. is a clinical researcher and physician in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. He obtained a board certification in gastroenterology in 2016. In 2011 he obtained a PhD in the field of internal diseases and in 2020 he received his habilitation in the same scientific field. His scientific work focuses on liver diseases (chronic liver failure, portal hypertension, liver cirrhosis, primary biliary cholangitis, non-alcoholic liver steatosis). As a co-investigator, he participated in several national and international projects, in particular the HepaMeta project, which focused on the epidemiology and clinical aspects of liver disease, metabolic syndrome and infectious diseases in the Roma population and the international PREDICT project under the auspices of the European Foundation for Chronic Liver Failure focused on the pathogenesis and prognosis of advanced and decompensated liver cirrhosis. He has published more than 50 scientific and professional works in domestic and foreign journals, of which 14 as the first or corresponding author and 43 indexed in the Web of Science database. Publication outputs were cited more than 285 times in the Web of science database, the H-index reached the value of 8 in WoS. He is a member of the committee of the Slovak Hepatological Society, a member of the Slovak Gastroenterological Society, a member of the European Association for the Study of the Liver. He is a member of the international scientific consortia EF-CLIF and the Polaris Observatory Group. He is a member of the editorial boards of 2 scientific journals (Clinical and Molecular hepatology, Trendy v Hepatológii).
