Marcel C C Machado was graduated by University of Sao Paulo the best University of Brazil and one of the greatest universities of South America. He initiated his scientific career as a medical student publishing papers related to metabolic problems of the surgical patients. After finishing its residential training he engaged in a research group interested in organ transplantation He performed the first liver transplantation in South American and later became a research fellow in University of Colorado working with T Starzl He also performed several liver transplants back to Brazil but the program was interrupted and he was relocated to a group of biliary and pancreatic surgery. In this group he started a scientific program on acute and chronic pancreatitis He also initiated a research laboratory interested in acute pancreatitis .Later on he became Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Transplant Program of University of S Paulo however he maintain his interest in biliary and pancreatic surgery. After finishing his term in this program he turned his interest on the effect of ageing on acute diseases as sepsis and acute pancreatitis He is now working in a research laboratory and working in a teaching hospital. He published more than 400 papers in scientific journals and collaborated in several international books .
