Ronell Bologna-Molina finished his studies as Dental Surgeon at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in 1996. In the year 2000 he became a Doctor in Dental Sciences at Universidad de la República del Uruguay (Udelar). In 2004 he completed the residency on Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in Mexico City and in 2009 he completed the Doctorate (Ph.D) in Biological Sciences (Molecular Pathology area) at the same university. He occupied diverse academic positions at three universities in Mexico, specifically, at UAM, Universidad de Guadalajara (UDeG) and as fulltime professor of Oral Pathology, chief of the Research Department, founder/coordinator of the Master Degree Program in Stomatology at Universidad Juárez del Estado de Durango. At present, he is full-time professor at the Molecular Pathology area at the Faculty of Dentistry at the Universidad de la República (Udelar), in Uruguay. He is a senior researcher (level II) at the SNI-ANII, (National Research System- National Agency for Research and Innovation), in Uruguay. He is a member of the editorial board at Oral Diseases, at Medicina Oral, Patología Oral y Cirugía Bucal, and at the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Dentistry, among other scientific journals. Dr Bologna has published over 90 scientific papers, has written one book and has participated collaboratively on the writing of some book chapters. In the period between 2012-2015 he held the position of Councillor for North and Central America in the Ibero-American Academy of Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine (AIPMB).He is currently the Councillor for Latin America and Caribbean at the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologists (IAOP). In 2017 finished his postdoctoral studies working with the Iwate Medical University (Japan) group in the field of odontogenic tumors. His main research interest is in odontogenic tumors, head-and-neck cancer and new biomarkers
