Cornelia Bala, MD, PhD, LLB is a board-certified senior physician and works as Professor of Diabetes and Nutrition at “Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She obtained her medical degree in 1995 and PhD degree in 2007 at the “Iuliu Hatieganu” University and joined the same university as assistant professor in 2004. She has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals in the area of diabetes and nutrition and is the author and co-author of over 30 book chapters and 2 books. Main current and past research areas include diabetes and cardiovascular complications, application of biomarkers and metabolomic analysis in metabolic diseases, chronobiology and sleep disorders, patient education. Cornelia Bala serves as President of the Romanian Association for Diabetes Education, vice-president of the Romanian Federation of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases and member of the Consultative Commission for Diabetes at the Ministry of Health. She has a degree in law obtained in 2013 at Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca and is involved in numerous policy-making initiatives in the field of health care in Romania and at European level.
