Mr. Naro Ohashi is a senior assistant professor of Hamamatsu University School of Medicine in Japan. He works not only as a medical doctor but also as a scientist in the field of nephrology and hypertension. Especially, he is a specialist of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in renal physiology, and he is making considerable achievement. He has recently clarified the mechanism of circadian rhythm of blood pressure and the RAS in the kidney, and demonstrated that it is possible that augmented glomerular permeability increases angiotensinogen excretion levels, a surrogate marker of intrarenal RAS activation, into the tubular lumen and that circadian fluctuation of glomerular permeability influences the circadian rhythm of the intrarenal RAS.
