Subho Chakrabarti is currently Professor of Psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India. He has been a faculty member at the PGIMER since 1997. He completed his MD, Psychiatry in 1990 from the PGIMER. He undertook training in the UK from 1993 to 1997 and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1995. He was elected as Fellow of Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2010. He became a member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India in 2007 and fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India  in 2017. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatry, of the of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India, of the International Society for Affective Disorders and of the Indian Psychiatric Society. He has been a member of the WHO Expert Working Group on Mood and Anxiety Disorders, for the Revision of ICD-10 Mental and Behavioural Disorders. He is currently serving as a member of the Standard Treatment Workflows (STW) for Psychiatric disorders, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India   He works in the area of general adult psychiatry and has over 375 publications in this field, mostly in the areas of mood disorders (bipolar disorder), schizophrenia, family-caregiving, liaison psychiatry, ECT, telepsychiatry, treatment-adherence, and psychosocial treatments for severe mental illnesses. He has won 30 national and international awards for his research. He is a member of the editorial board of seven international and national journals.
