Dr. Aarti Gupta completed her general adult psychiatry residency training in 2012 followed by a Geriatric psychiatry fellowship in 2013 and Psychopharmacology research fellowship in 2014 from Yale University school of Medicine. She is interested in studying the brain endocannabinoid system and is involved in numerous projects studying delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, a partial cannabinoid receptor agonist, as a probe of endocannabinoid system function. She is curious about the effects of synthetic cannabinoids, full cannabinoid receptor agonsists, in human beings and is interested in characterizing the psychoactive effects of synthetic cannabinoids in a laboratory setting in future. After completing her fellowship, she accepted a position as Principal Psychiatrist at Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown, CT in July 2015. She currently works as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry since July 2018, working mostly with psychosis and co-occurring disorders inpatient population.
