Dr. Shilpa Srinivasan is Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at Palmetto Health- University of South Carolina Medical Group. She received her medical degree from Albert Szent-Gyorgyi Medical University in Szeged, Hungary. She completed her Psychiatry residency at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA where she served as chief resident. Dr. Srinivasan completed a Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans, before joining the faculty in the department of Neuropsychiatry at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
Dr. Srinivasan is actively involved in patient care, clinical education, and research. She is the Training Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program and M4 medical student psychiatry clerkship director. She has received a SAMHSA grant for interdisciplinary SBIRT training, and is a recipient of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology 2016-2018 Faculty Innovation in Education Award. She serves on the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Geriatric Psychiatry Exam Committee. Dr. Srinivasan is a board member of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. She is a past president of the South Carolina Psychiatric Association and a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. She has published in the areas of late life depression, substance use in older adults, and geriatric telepsychiatry. She is a reviewer for the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry and the Journal of Technology in Behavioral Science. Dr. Srinivasan is an Associate Editor- Geriatrics for Drugs in Context.
