Priv. Doz. Dr. med. habil. Dieter Schoepf started in the late 80s and 90s of the last century with neurophysiological studies of the visual system in patients with homonymous hemianopia in University Hamburg. Following this, he investigated oculomotor deficits in schizophrenia in University Lübeck.  In University Bonn (1998 – 2018), his research interests were dedicated to (1) clinical epidemiology, (2) translational search for targets to improve treatment, and (3) psychotherapy research. Since 2003 he is involved in comorbidity and mortality studies in the United Kingdom. Further more, he was a personal trainee of Prof. James P. McCullough and since 2007 the second US-certified CBASP-therapist and supervisor in Germany. He was also founder-member of CBASP-Network and its first vice president from 2008 – 2012. He established the CBASP Centre of Competence at Bonn University since 2006, where he was principal site investigator of bi-centric and multicenter CBASP studies. In this context, he was on active service in f-MRI bicentric- and multicenter effectiveness studies in individuals that suffer of persistent depressive disorder. Dr. Schoepf was awarded continuously from 2011 – 2018 as a top expert for affective disorders in German largest independent survey (Focus). He feels obliged to a "personalized" ´patient centered approach that includes differential pharmacotherapy and disorder specific psychotherapy as well - if necessary in the case of treatment resistancy- biophysical convulsive and non-convulsive interventions.  2018, Dr. Schoepf has accepted the call for the position as the Medical Director at Vitos Weil-Lahn, Hesse, Germany where he starts at 1st of September 2018. He remains lecturer of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at University Bonn.
