Dr. Michael D. Diamantidis (born on December 28, 1976 in Thessaloniki, Greece) received his medical diploma in 2001 from the faculty of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AuTH), Greece, and his specialty as a hematologist in 2012. He finished his MSc in Medical Research Methodology with an Excellent degree in 2006 and his PhD on 'Investigation of Helicobacter pylori infection in greek patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)' in the same university (AuTH) (grade: excellent, 2011). Beyond his clinical work with the patients, he is known for his strong research interest in the fields of gastroenterology (an expert in helicobacter pylori infection) and hematology. He has more than 30 publications in international peer-reviewed recognized journals (among them in the New Engl J Med, Curr Mol Med, World J Gastroenterol, Leuk Res). He is an expert reviewer for more than 40 journals (80 manuscripts) (including Br J Haematol where he was 1st rank worldwide reviewer in January 2016 - 25 papers since 2009 and he has also received the honorary diploma of outstanding reviewer for Leuk Res in May 2015 - 12 papers since 2013). After a national scholarship (first position), he conducted post-doctoral research in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, the Netherlands (group of Prof. Delwel) from 2013-2014. Since June 2014, he works as a consultant hematologist at the Thalassemia Unit in the General Hospital of Larissa, Larissa, Greece. His research interest include Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), AML, myeloproliferative neoplasms, lymphoproliferative disorders, multiple myeloma and helicobacter pylori infection.
