Prof. Achim Elfering, PhD is professor for Work and Organisational Psychology at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed original papers, review articles and book chapters focussing on work conditions and musculoskeletal pain, including risk studies and intervention studies in organisations. Achim Elfering participated in Swiss national scientific research programme NFP53 musculoskeletal health and did works on occupational health with Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO, Switzerland) and Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAUA, Germany). His further interest includes work stress, sleep behaviour and health, pessimistic back beliefs, injury claim and benefit status, and other risk-flags of nonspecific low back pain. Moreover, he is interested in treatment courses, e.g., best time point to identify patients at risk of developing persistent nonspecific low back pain. Other studies address influence of work-family conflict and leadership quality as unique risk factors for musculoskeletal pain. Achim Elfering conducted several controlled trials and also RCT on effects of stochastic whole body vibration.
