Since May 2004 I am working at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as a specialization in Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgery. Since September 2008 I am member of the adult reconstruction team as a senior assistant performing more than 100 primary and more than 50 revision cases per year. In total I performed more than 300 hip arthroplasties, more than 300 knee arthroplasties and more than 100 revision cases. As a scientific assistant I am involved in basic and clinical research focused on metal-on-metal total hip arthroplasties evaluating the metal ion concentrations in the long term. I could also publish these studies in peer-reviewed top journals like the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery Am. in March 2014; “Primary Cementless Total Hip Arthroplasty with Second Generation Metal-on-Metal Bearings” and the Journal of Orthopedic Research in May 2014 “Comparison of Synovial Fluid, Urine and Serum Ion Levels in Metal-on-Metal Total Hip Arthroplasty at a Minimum Followup of Eighteen Years”. In addition I am involved in a number of scientific projects. As a result of my scientific efforts I could achieve the postdoctoral lecture qualification (“Venia docendi”) in December 2014.
