Dr. med. Markus Regauer is an orthopaedic and trauma surgeon at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. His main clinical interests are foot and ankle as well as knee surgery with a special emphasis on sports injuries and ligament reconstruction. Since 2011 he is the leader of the department of foot and ankle surgery and so far he has organized various symposia and courses in this field. In 2005 he has developed a new and gentle method for reducing anterior and posterior shoulder dislocations and various skeletal models for understanding and training different techniques for reducing shoulder, elbow and patellar dislocations. Recently he has developed a new minimally invasive method for anatomic double-bundle syndesmosis augmentation in aperture fixation technique and a new concept for arthroscopic correction of severe hindfoot deformities in neuroosteoarthropathy. Currently he is working on the development of new implants for ankle fractures in severe osteoporosis and for total talus replacement. Since 2011 he is member of Editorial Board of the World Journal of Orthopedics and since 2013 he is a paid consultant for Arthrex Inc. (Naples, USA).
