Dr. Tie received her PhD in Biomedical Engineering and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University. Her research focuses on improving presurgical brain mapping by developing and applying advanced neuroimaging techniques, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and diffusion MRI. In addition to the conventional task-based fMRI for mapping motor and language functions, Dr. Tie has developed easy-to-perform resting-state and movie-watching fMRI paradigms for those patients who cannot perform tasks due to language or other neurological deficits. Dr. Tie is also interested in brain functional and structual connectivity studies to understand the neural mechanism of disease pathophysiology and devlop neuroimaging biomarkers for patients with disease- or treatment-induced cognitive decline and other neurological disorders. The goals are to inform therapeutic development and improve patients’ overall well-being.
