With a medical degree in Tehran, upon receiving his specialty board certificate in 2000 at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran, Mahdi Najafi was nominated a professorship at Faculty of Medicine and continued clinical practicing and research on cardiac patients in 2002. Over the last 10 years, he has focused his scientific interests on the topics related to cardiovascular disorders especially cardiac surgery-related risk predictors including life style changes and quality of life. He has conducted a series of studies on cardiac patients regarding the importance of quality of life, nutrition patterns, and metabolic syndrome in predicting outcome in cardiac surgery. In addition to giving numerous lectures for students, residents and specialists in his academic career, he has conducted lots of thesis projects, published peer reviewed journal papers and book chapters, edited/reviewed for many academic journals. He is currently working on neurocognitive problems in cardiac patients. His project on studying long term outcome of patients who underwent cardiac surgery is still underway.
