Dr. Marcio F Chedid graduated (MD) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2004. Concluded a five-year General Surgery and Surgical Oncology Residency at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA-UFRGS) in 2010. Obtained ECFMG certification in 2009. Worked as a Clinical Fellow at the Division of Abdominal Transplantation Surgery of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MI, United States, from 2011 to December 2013. Dr. Chedid then attended a Visiting Scholarship at the Department of Surgery of the Washington University in Saint Louis. Since May 2014, Dr. Chedid has been working as Attending Surgeon at the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Liver and Pancreas Transplantation of HCPA-UFRGS at his hometown Porto Alegre. Dr. Chedid obtained a PhD degree in Surgical Sciences at UFRGS in February 2017. Besides working as an Attending Surgeon at HCPA-UFRGS since 2014, Dr. Chedid has worked as Postgraduate Professor of Surgery at the Medical School of UFRGS. His current activities are to perform transplants and hepatobiliary operations. He also works as Master´s Degree Advisor. Professor Dr. Chedid was the first surgeon to report successful performance of human pancreas transplantation utilizing IGL-1 preservation solution (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27163542). He has authored/co-authored 44 scientific medical articles, and has worked as a reviewer for several PubMed Indexed scientific journals, including the American Journal of Transplantation, Transplantation, PLOS One, Digestive Diseases and Sciences, Annals of Hepatology and Clinical Transplantation.
