Zong-Ming Zhang, Professor of Capital Medical University of People's Republic of China, Director of Department of General Surgery in Beijing Electric Power Hospital of State Grid Corporation of China. Dr. Zhang graduated with MD-PhD dual degree in General Surgery from Tongji Medical University in 1994. He completed his postdoctoral training at Beijing Medical University, Ohio State University, and Yale University, from 1994 to 2000. He was appointed as Professor and Director of Department of General Surgery at Tongji University (2001-2004), Tsinghua University (2004-2012), and Capital Medical University (2013~present). Dr. Zhang actively engaged in clinical practice and clinical research in the area of General Surgery over the last 34 years. For clinical practice, he has extensive and outstanding clinical experience in performing all kinds of general surgery operations, such as pancreaticoduodenectomy, radical resection of hilar cholangiocarcinoma, right hemihepatectomy, total gastrectomy, laparoscopic radical resection of rectal carcinoma, laparoscopic radical resection of gallbladder carcinoma, etc. For clinical research, he focuses on the molecular probe and treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma, the exact effect and mechanism of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, and the molecular mechanisms of store-operated calcium channels on hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury. Prof. Zhang has published more than 160 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals (PNAS, CMJ, WJG, Int J Nanomed, J Gastrointest Surg, Frontiers of Medicine etc), 15 book chapters, 20 international conference poster presentations. He is the Committee Member for 19 academic organizations, such as International Hepato-Pancreato Biliary Association, Biliary Surgery Group of Surgery Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Science & Technology Commission of Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China, Chinese Digestive Surgery of World Endoscopic Doctors Association, and General Surgery Branch of Beijing Medical Association, etc. Prof. Zhang is an Editor in Chief of World Chinese Journal of Digestology. He is also the Editorial Board Member of 16 academic journals, including World Journal of Gastroenterology, Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery, Chinese Journal of General Surgery, Chinese Archives of General Surgery (Electronic Edition), and Journal of Abdominal Surgery, etc.
