Dr Vishal completed his surgical residency from B. J Medical College, Ahmedabad in 2002 with thesis on ‘Hashimoto’s thyroiditis’ leading to MS (General Surgery). He passed national surgical exams and was accorded DNB (General Surgery) in 2003 and was appointed as Assistant Professor in General Surgery at Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. He passed MRCSEd in 2005 and worked in UK-National Health Service. He completed 1 year Clinical Fellowship in HPB and Liver Transplantation at National University Hospital in 2007 and obtained Hesperis Diploma in Organ Transplantation from ECOT with thesis on ‘Theft, Trafficking, Trade and Transplant Tourism’ in 2008. He also completed MMed (Surgery) from NUS in 2008 and Advanced Surgical Training in 2012 with FRCS (General Surgery). He was elected as a Fellow of Academy of Medicine and awarded HMDP to pursue Advanced Laparoscopic HPB surgery at Southampton, UK. He passed UEMS conducted HPB surgery exam and was elected as a Fellow of European Board of HPB surgery in 2014. He was awarded Davies Foundation Trust Travelling award to pursue Robotic Pancreas Surgical Fellowship UPMC in 2015. He has more than 40 peer reviewed publications and book chapters. He serves as an editorial board member of peer reviewed international surgical journals. He is in the governing council of International College of Surgeons and represents Singapore in World Society of Emergency Surgery. He is a coapted member with Chapter of General Surgeons, College of Surgeons, Singapore. He has been conferred visiting Professorship of 2015 by Asian Institute of Telesurgery, IRCAD, Taiwan.
