Dr Niccolo Petrucciani was born in Rome in 1983. He obtained his medical degree in 2008 at University Sapienza of Rome with a thesis on "Gastrointestinal stromal tumors: correlation between symptoms at presentation, tumor location and prognostic factors in 47 consecutive patients" under the direction of Prof. Ziparo. From 2009 to 2015, he was resident in General Surgery at University Sapienza of Rome under the guide of Prof. Ramacciato. During this period, he spent 18 months to visit as fellow the service of Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplantation of Mondor Hospital, Paris (Prof Daniel Azoulay), the service of Colorectal Surgery in Nantes (Prof PA Lehur) and the colorectal service of Beaujon Hospital in Paris (Prof Yves Panis). He obtained a master in “Hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgical techniques” at Mondor Hospital in 2013. In 2015, he completed the residency with the thesis “Pancreatectomy with Mesenteric and Portal Vein Resection for Borderline Resectable Pancreatic Cancer: Multicenter Study of 406 Patients”, (Ann Surg Oncol 2016). In 2018, he obtained his PhD in Oncology at University Sapienza of Rome with the thesis on the role of SMO inhibition in colorectal cancer. From 2015 to 2017, he was an attending general surgeon in the service of Digestive Surgery and Liver Transplantation of the Nice University Hospital, directed by Prof Jean Gugenheim. Since 2017 he is surgical fellow at Henri Mondor University Hospital, in Creteil. Dr Petrucciani is author of more than 75 indexed articles and collaborates as reviewer or associated editor for 10 international journals. His principal fields of interest are: surgical oncology, colorectal surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, bariatric surgery.
