Dr. Alessandra Fierabracci is Senior Scientist and Group Leader at the Infectivology and Clinical Trial Research Division of Children’s Hospital Bambino Gesù in Rome since 2001. Previously she was Lecturer with indefinite contract in Immunology at Queen Mary Westfield College (QMWC), London University (Univ) (UK, 1997-2000) and Visiting Scholar at the Department of Pediatrics, Pittsburgh Univ (PA) in 1999. She earned her MD at Pisa Univ in 1986, her PhD in Immunology at QMWC in 1996 and in Experimental Pathology at Florence Univ in 1997. Her research interests are related to the pathogenesis of autoimmune disorders with special reference to insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (Type 1 diabetes). She was awarded the 2011 EUWIIN (European women Inventors and Innovator Network) Award (Aw) Best Woman Inventor (High Education), Reykjavik, 6-9 September 2011, the 2014 BFIIN Special Recognition Award and the 2014 World Invention Award BSI Silver Medal, London 22-25 October 2014 and Enrico Toti Prize for Invention/Innovation in 2016. She was awarded the Special Recognition Award 2017 EIWIIN (European International Women Inventors and Innovators), Bari 28-29 June 2017.
