I did my M.D. and surgery residency in Tianjin Medical University, China and my Ph.D. in VRIJE Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. Afterwards, I joined Dr. Gittes' lab and became independent after 5 years' postdoc training. My research aims to prevent the occurrence of diabetes in the public and to develop effective treatments for all kinds of diabetic patients, using state-of-the-art cell biology and molecular biology tools. Now I am studying cell-cell interaction and signal pathway crosstalks that regulate beta-cell growth, adatation and functionality, especially in the inflamed islet niche, with a focus on the role of macrophages. So far, I have 28 papers as first and/or corresponding author, and 12 of these 28 papers were from my early career of independence (2017~2021). Moreover, I have co-authored 22 papers and 2 live patents.
