World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology (WJGO) is an open access journal and levies an Article Publishing Charge (APC) of $ 1396. The APC is waived for solicited manuscripts.
The APC is payable to Baishideng Publishing Group (BPG) by the author(s) or research sponsor(s).
All articles published by BPG are selected by an in-house editor and fully peer-reviewed by external reviewers. BPG applies the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial (CC BY-NC 4.0) license, which permits others to distribute, remix, adapt, build upon this work non-commercially, and license their derivative works on different terms, provided the original work is properly cited and the use is non-commercial. Important Features and Guiding Principles of the WJGO
First, the WJGO is a high quality, single-blind, peer-reviewed, open access journal that rapidly reports multidisciplinary innovative scientific research findings in the field of gastrointestinal oncology through its publication of editorials, reviews, research papers, academic activity reports, and case reports. The WJGO is now abstracted and indexed in PubMed, PubMed Central, Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE, also known as SciSearch®), and Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition.
Second, the WJGO focuses on new research directions and progress in the field of gastrointestinal oncology , including (1) important scientific issues, academic thoughts, research methods, and other innovative original research; (2) progress of multidisciplinary research in the current field, addressed by comments on the current situation, problems and forward movement, and on the new directions underlying the development of this field; (3) the latest academic activities reflecting the newest research trends and including comments on new theories, methodologies, discoveries and ideas throughout the field-related academic activities, to guide practical research; and (4) reports on rare cases that can improve the overall understanding of the pathogenesis of major diseases, providing a new theoretical basis for their diagnosis and treatment.
Third, the WJGO complies with the code of conduct for journal publishers developed by CrossRef, Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) and International Association of Scientific, Technical & Medical Publishers (STM), and is a member of all these associations.
Fourth, the WJGO’s review cycle is 1-2 weeks, and the time from acceptance to final online publication is 1-2 weeks.
Finally, the WJGO is edited and published by the BPG.
The BPG possesses many resources for publishing high quality academic journals, including the following:
First, BPG’s enterprise culture is consistently “abiding by publishing ethics and standards and providing services for authors and readers”.
Second, the BPG has introduced a 7-day publishing management system. Each process of peer-reviewed manuscript publication must be finished in 7 days. For example, the first manuscript submission, peer review, and first decision must each be finished in 7 days.
Third, the BPG is an internationally recognized professional publishing company, and it is a member of CrossRef, COPE, OASPA, ALPSP, and STM.

Sixth, the BPG has 26 years of experience in editing and publishing medical journals. We currently publish 43 clinical medical journals covering a wide range of topics, of which 4 are indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded, 23 in PubMed Central and PubMed, and 10 in Emerging Sources Citation Index. Among these, the World Journal of Gastroenterology has the highest impact factor (2016: 3.365).
Finally, the BPG has a self-developed multifunctional peer-review and online release system, whose featured functions are Authors Evaluation (authors tracking evaluation of the publisher) and Article Quality Tracking (reviewers tracking evaluation of article quality). In alignment with these quality standards, the BPG has created the ‘Baishideng Award’ to recognize authors who have published excellent articles in BPG’s journals. The first prize will be 5000 USD. The second prize will be 3000 USD. The third prize will be 2000 USD. In addition, each winner will be presented an official certificate for their ‘Baishideng Award’.
