Dr. Arcidiacono has been the first Italian endosonographer who performed linear echoendoscopy and the first EUS FNA. Since 1992 He has developed EUS and technique related to this topic contributing to the widespread diffusion in Italy and allover Europe of this endoscopy branch mostly in the field of Pancreatobiliry diseases and particularly pancreatic and biliary tumors. He has been part of many cooperative studies and groups that have developed either EUS devices (needles ASPRO and PRO-CORE Groups and stents) and new diagnostic software like Elastography (European Group on Elastography) and Contrast Media (SONOVUE). Dr Arcidiacono ands team have been first worldwide to start EUS Guided Ablation Therapy of Pancreatic Cancer developing the Hybrid Therm Technology in cooperation with ERBE. Dr. Arcidiacono is Member of the Executive board of Pancreas Translational and Clinical Research center of San Raffaele Scientific Institute. Nowadays Pancreato-Biliary Endoscopy and Endosonography Division Directed by Dr. Arcidiacono is training center of European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) and perform specific training programs for national and International Attendees.
