Dr. Ping-Huei Tseng graduated with a medical degree from the National Taiwan University. After two years’ military service, he completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship of gastroenterology and hepatology at the National Taiwan University Hospital. He also obtained his PhD degree from the Graduate Institute of Clinical Medicine, College of Medicine, National Taiwan University. Dr. Tseng is currently an attending physician at the National Taiwan University Hospital and clinical assistant professor in the College of Medicine of National Taiwan University. He is also a committee member of the motility working group in the Digestive Endoscopy Society. Dr. Tseng has received his GI motility training at the Medical University of South Carolina in the USA and helped to establish the GI motility laboratory of the National Taiwan University Hospital. His research works mainly focus on the upper gastrointestinal diseases, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), functional GI diseases, and motility disorders such as achalasia and diabetic gastropathy. He has accumulated lots of clinical experiences on the application and interpretation of various motility testing, including high resolution manometry (HRM), multichannel intraluminal impedance-pH (MII-pH) monitoring, and gastric emptying scintigraphy. In addition, in his clinical work, he has applied image enhanced endoscopy (IEE) in the diagnosis of GERD as well as the screening of esophageal neoplasm in head and neck cancer patients with transnasal endoscopy. He has carried out a series of basic and clinical studies focusing on the neurogastroenterology and motility and has actively participated in many multicenter studies regarding Helicobacter pylori infection and acid-related disorders.
