Dr. Chen received his MD degree from National Taiwan University School of Medicine, and Ph. D. in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He then completed internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship training both at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri, United States. During the GI fellowship, he also did research on the interactions of gut and microbiome under the mentorship of Dr. Jeffrey Gordon of the Center for Genome Sciences and Systems Biology, Washington University in St. Louis. His clinical interests are obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, deep enteroscopy, capsule endoscopy, and inflammatory bowel diseases.
