My core expertise are in the field of viral infectious disease broadly and virology and immunology of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) specifically. HCV is endemic in the world with around 200 million infections and Pakistan ranked second in the world for HCV burden with more than 10 million infections. I wish to work on the molecular aspects of viral as well as host factors involved in disease susceptibility and anti viral therapy response. The successful identification and characterization of factors involved in disease susceptibility, progression and anti viral therapy response will be of great help not only for successful treatment of currently infected individuals but also to reduce future burden of the disease. I will also work on awareness of community by epidemiological risk factors identification. The ultimate aim of my future studies will be to help local community to lessen future burden of HCV infection in Pakistan.
