Gherlan George studied Medicine in Cluj-Napoca’s “Iuliu Hatieganu” Medical University, in Romania and graduated in the year 2000. After finishing the university, he was trained for five years in the field of Infectious Diseases, in Bucharest, under the supervision of the professors from the main University of Medicine in Romania, “Dr. Carol Davila” University and became an Infectious Diseases Specialist. He continued his training embracing the field of viral hepatitis with a PhD thesis approaching the subject of the noninvasive methods for the evaluation of the liver fibrosis. He received his PhD degree in the field of Medical Science in 2013. Dr. George Gherlan is also trained and practices ultrasonography and elastography. Dr. Gherlan is currently working in Bucharest, in the Center for Diagnostics and Treatment “Dr. Victor Babes”, being involved in clinical research related mainly to the new emerging therapies in chronic viral hepatitis as well as in treating patients. He is a member of the European Association for the Study of the Liver and European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. In the last years, Dr. Gherlan was a constant presence, participating with papers at international congresses organized by EASL and APASL, two of them being appreciated with young investigator awards.
