Graduated with PhD degree in Biochemistry from AMU, Aligarh, and joined McMaster University, Canada in 1988 for post-doctoral training in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology. I worked on the cloning and regulation of Ca-Pump in heart and GI-tract in health and disease conditions. I joined the Gastoenetrology Department subsequently to explore the molecular basis of pathophysiology of IBD and IBS using human tissues and animal models. In particular role and regulation of ion transporting proteins in GI tract motility was focussed. In 1994 I moved to Kuwait University where I continued my work on the role of Na-H exchanger in IBD using human tissues and animal models of IBD. Currently I am working as a Professor and the Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University, Kuwait.
