Dr. Wan-Long Chuang is a Distinguished Professor in the School of Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan. Professor Chuang received his MD degree from Kaohsiung Medical University in 1980. He undertook his postgraduate training at the Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital and has been an Attending Physician in the Hepatobiliary Division, Department of Internal Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital since 1986. He became a lecturer of Kaohsiung Medical University in 1987. Dr. Chuang spent one and a half year as a research fellow, under the instruction of Professor Masao Omata, at Chiba University Japan from 1991 to 1992. He returned to Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital and obtained his PhD degree from Kaohsiung Medical University in 1993. He was promoted as a professor in the School of Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University in 2004. His research interests are viral hepatitis (particularly HBV and HCV), liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. He is the Editor of the Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, member of editorial board and reviewer of several scientific journals, and has published more than 250 peer-review articles. Professor Chuang had served as the Director of the Faculty of Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University from 2005 to 2008. He was the past President of the Taiwan Association for the Study of the Liver in 2010 and 2011. Now, he is the Director of the Hepatitis Prevention and Treatment Center and Chief of the Hepatobiliary Division, Department of Internal Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital.
