F. Sipos started his experimental researches in the Cell Analysis Laboratory, Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary as a medical student in 1997. With a medical degree in 2001 he started his PhD studies about the changes of epithelial cell kinetics in inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. In 2004, he was nominated a permanent status at the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Semmelweis University, where he continued his experimental researches in the field of gastrointestinal inflammatory and cancerous conditions, diagnostic and screening method development, in parallel with his clinical work. Over the last decade, he has focused his scientific interests on the topics related to gastrointestinal carcinogenesis, inflammatory conditions and GI-related immune alterations, and he also has experiences in the field of hepatology, especially in the preoperative care of liver transplanted patients. With his expertise in molecular biology, immunohistochemistry and microscopic imaging, he has contributed to a series of platforms for diagnostics/screening methodologies, cancer- and inflammation-related biomarker selections as well as participated in the training of postgraduate students. He has also published numerous SCI journal papers, book chapters, edited/reviewed for many academic journals, participated in several EU/national projects. Innovative, translational and longstanding research has ever been a pursuit in his academic career.
