Professor Sombat Treeprasertsuk, MD, PhD, Professor Sombat has obtained his medical degree and board of Internal Medicine from the Mahidol University, Thailand in 1997 and has earned his fellowship training in Gastroenterology in 2000. He worked as a lecturer at Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University from 2000-2003. He has been a faculty member of Department of Internal Medicine, Chulalongkorn University since 2005. He furthered his education in Master degree of Clinical Translational Science as well as trained as a research fellow in Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, United States during 2008-2010. Additionally, he received Ph.D. degree from Chulalongkorn University in 2012. For academic achievement, he was appointed as Assistant Professor at faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University in 2000 and then Associate Professor and Professor in Internal Medicine, Chulalongkorn University in 2008 and 2016, respectively. Professor Sombat is an experienced hepatologist and researcher in clinical liver diseases. He has led an active research group focusing on the nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) and cirrhotic complications. Currently, at least 100 of his publications, abstracts and book chapters have been cited. He has contributed as an editorial board of Asian biomedicine, World journal of Gastrointestinal Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He is also an active member of Gut & Obesity in Asia working group (GO ASIA); which study spectrum of NAFL in Asia. In addition, he is a member of the APASL-ACLF Research Consortium (AARC) working group which work on the outcome of patients with acute on chronic liver failure in Asia-Pacific region.
