Professor Bang, Professor of Medical Oncology, is the President of Biomedical Research Institute and Director of Clinical Trials Center of Seoul National University Hospital. He graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine in 1979. He is certified in the specialties of internal medicine and hematology/medical oncology. He has been working for Seoul National University College of Medicine since 1986. He has served many positions including Director of Cancer Research Institute of Seoul National University (2000 – 2006), President of the Korean Cancer Study Group (2006 – 2008), vice-President of Korean National Enterprise for Clinical Trials (KoNECT) (2009 – 2104), Chairman of Department of Internal Medicine (2010 – 2014), and Chairman of the Korean Cancer Association (2012 – 2014). Dr. Bang has co-authored more than 350 papers in peer-reviewed journals including New England Journal of Medicine and Lancet. He is primarily interested in the development of new anticancer therapeutics, both clinical and translational, especially in gastric cancer. He is the Principal Investigator of a number of international clinical trials including ToGA study, CLASSIC study, and GOLD study
