I am an interventional endoscopist with interest in neuroendocrine tumours (NETs). I had my Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training at the Uppsala University hospital, Sweden where i was appointed as consultant Gastroenterologist focusing on endoscopy and NETs at the Departments of Gastroenterology and Endocrine Oncology. The department of Endocrine Oncology in Uppsala is accredited by the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society as a Center of Excellence in NETs. Then i had my training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy in Canada, initially at the University of Calgary and later on at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, which is one of the sixteen centers of excellence in advanced therapeutic endoscopy in the world accredited by the World Endoscopy Organisation. I got also trained in POEM, ESD, STER and EFTR at Zhongshan hospital, Fudan university in Shanghai, China. Zhongshan University Hospital is accredited as an endoscopy training center by the ESD Committee of Asian Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy. I completed my thesis at the University of Uppsala, Sweden with a topic on neuroendocrine cells and tumors of the stomach. My research interests include the investigation of neuroendocrine cells/tumors of the digestive tract focusing on novel biomarkers and receptors expression, as well as the endoscopic management of these tumors. I published several peer reviewed articles in the field of NET disease and i speak regularly on the subject at major national and international conferences (hitherto i acted as invited speaker in >20 countries). Currently i am affiliated with Karolinska Institutet focusing on NETs.
