Dr. Michele Yip-Schneider received her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis. Following post-doctoral training at the University of California, Los Angeles and Indiana University School of Medicine, she joined the Department of Surgery faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine in 2001 where she is currently a Senior Research Professor. Her extensive training in molecular biology and human disease provides the necessary expertise to pursue current translational studies in pancreatic cancer. She is the Co-Scientific Director of the Indiana University Pancreatic Cyst and Cancer Biomarker Discovery Lab which is focused on discovering and developing novel biomarkers and targeted therapeutics for patients with pancreatic cysts and cancer. The development of such biomarkers will facilitate risk stratification of patients and thereby promote early detection and prevention of pancreatic cancer. Dr. Yip-Schneider also serves as a peer reviewer for numerous scientific journals in pharmacology, gastroenterology, and cancer research. She is a member of several professional organizations including Sigma Xi, American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and American Pancreatic Association (APA).
