In the past 15 years she has focused her attention on the topics related to bile acids and cholesterol metabolism in human; insulin resistance, in particular she has focused the attention on genetic determinants of insulin resistance and insulin resistance related to ethnicity. In the recent years the main topic of interest has been non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) , with particular interest on the genetic and metabolic determinants, including diabetes and obesity. At the moment her main scientific interest is on the biology of the telomere complex associated to liver disease. She has written review papers on the topics of her principal interests such as NAFLD and insulin resistance and described case reports of particular scientific interest. She has worked as co-investigator in several clinical trials , national and internationals of pharmacological, observational and epidemiological interest. She has published numerous SCI papers, edited/reviewed for many academic journals and participated to several EU projects.
