BIOGRAPHY

Raul Moreno was born in Salamanca, Spain, in 1969. He obtained the medical degree at the University of Valladolid, Spain, and was trained as a cardiologist and interventional cardiologist at Madrid, Spain. After having been working in several hospitals in Madrid (Gregorio Marañón and Clinico San Carlos), he has become an expert cardiologist and an opinion leader in the field of interventional cardiology. Since 2006, Raul Moreno is the director of Interventional Cardiology at the University Hospital La Paz (Madrid, Spain). During the last 15 years, he has been very active in the field of cardiology and, especially, interventional cardiology, with more than 300 publications in journals and books and more than 500 presentations at scientific meetings. His main contributions are related with coronary artery disease (prognosis and treatment of unstable angina and acute myocardial infarction) and the field of percutaneous treatment of cardiac diseases, such as coronary stents (drug-eluting stents, stent thrombosis), primary angioplasty, and structural heart diseases (trans-catheter aortic valve implantation). He is reviewer of more than 40 international journals, and serves as an evaluation expert for some national and international scientific organizations.

BIOGRAPHY

With a medical degree in Russia, Victor joined the Johns Hopkins University as a visiting scientist in 1991, and became a faculty member in 1997. In addition to his academic activities, Dr. Serebruany is running a private business, HeartDrug Research LLC, focusing on hemostatic biomarkers in vascular desease. Victor is considered a world-class expert in platelet physiology, and antiplatelet therapy in patients with acute coronary syndromes, stroke, and diabetes. He have published over 250 peer-reviewed papers in the major international journals, and wrote 5 chapters in books on cardiovasular pharmacology. He also serves as an Editorial Board memeber for European Heart Journal, Cardiology, Fundamental and Clinical Pharmacology, and Postgraduate Medical Journal. Dr. Serebruany is a holder of 4 issued patents, and 5 applcations assigned to major pharmaceutical companies in the area of antiplatelet therapy in cardiovascular disease.  His research interests  include in vitro studies with novel medications, assessing their effects on platelet receptors, providing core facilities for biomarker studies in the frame of major clinical trials, or designing own small randomized studies in patients with diabetes, stroke, depression, or hypertension. HeartDrug Research has been awarded over $26 million in reseach funding, including 5 ongoing projects.
