Dr Ahmed El Ray is a Professor of Hepatogastroenterology in Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) in Cairo, Egypt. He is also part time professor of Hepatogastroenterology in Faculty of Medicine October 6  University. He finished his Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. He received advanced fellowship training in the field of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy in France  1989-1990. He obtained  the university diploma of Gastrointestinal endoscopy  and the titer of fellow of Paris VII university, he also obtained  a university diploma in ultrasound from University Paris V. He is a member of the French National society of Gastroenterology (Societe National Francaise de Gastroenterologie – SNFGE ) He was appointed as Assistant professor in 1995 then Associate Professor in 2000 and Professor in 2005 and  occupied the position of the head of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology department in Theodor Bilharz research Institute from the period of 2014-2019. He is the  principal investigator of two Franco Egyptian projects in collaboration with the Hepatology and Anatomopathology Team of the Beaujon Hospital (France). He has been the coordinator of the scientific convention between Beaujon Hospital (France) and Theodor Bilharz Institute since 2007 till now, and the coordinator of eleven annual scientific meetings in Hepatogastroenterologybetween Theodor Bilharz research institute and  Beaujon Hospital in from 2007 to 2019. The eleven meetings were animated by all the international professors of Hepatogatroenterology of the Faculty of Medicine of Paris VII - Construction of the website (Egyptian French Hepatology) in collaboration with professors in the Hepatology department in Beaujon Hospital. He was the guest  for oral presentations of Paris Hepatitis Conference 2016 and 2019 and of AFRAVIH 2015 in Algiers and AFRAMED in Morocco 2019 for oral presentations  in the field of Hepatogastroenterology. During his medical carrier he was involved in patient care, performing diagnostic and therapeutic GI technique, Clinical teaching to both undergraduates and postgraduates, training GI endoscopic procedures. He supervised many master and PhD thesis and has many scientific publications in peer reviewed journals.
